Kathryn Smith Interiors

Hi and welcome! I’m Kathryn, and I love to bring schemes together with a mixture of texture and colour. My passion for interiors has informed most of my life and certainly my career which has built up to running this business allowing me to do what I love every single day. I trained as a Textile Designer, acquiring a BAHons degree at Nottingham Trent University before catapulting myself into the world of interiors, furnishing, fabrics and wallcoverings through my work as a freelance Designer.

This hands-on experience, backed by my a never-ending passion for design evolved into a love of teaching. Picking up a PGCE along the way, I devoted 20 happy years to teaching Art and Textiles before taking the leap to bring my own company to life; Kathryn Smith Interiors which I established in 2016.

Since then, I’ve not looked back. I’ve found my happy place bringing joy to your home. I love working with you to create your dream space. Every client needs and wants something different and it’s this variety which makes my work so exciting. I love building up bespoke schemes that reflect the individuality of each personality and space. I hope I can do the same for you.

“Creating a brand new space by mixing pieces together unique to each client is an involved and rewarding experience. I’m drawn to classic, long lasting designs which stand the test of time and enrich the character of the room. I love taking on projects which involve cohesive design throughout a property, with a real penchant for colours and prints which make my heart sing”

I love people and helping them to achieve what they want in their homes is a key driver for me. I often find myself with long term clients who thankfully want to work with me again and again. I’m a self-confessed perfectionist, but I think this eye for detail really helps define my work – I just won’t sit still until every element is perfect!
“At heart, I just love working with people, interpreting their needs and helping them to identify their personal style. My aim is to create a space which reflects the aesthetic and practical needs of my client, but in an elevated manner with some wow moments along the way. Inspiration can come from a piece of art, a flourishing garden visible from the room or a family heirloom that needs a rework – it’s different every time and that’s what I love about it”
